Wielding a sharp pen: a talk with Felix Schaad and Ieva Kunga
Thursday, 23.2.2023
Felix Schaad, comics artist and caricaturist from Winterthur, is known for his caricatures in the newspaper ‘Tages-Anzeiger’. His work also includes the legendary comic strip ‘Eva’. Be it Roger Federer, the climate crisis, the war in Ukraine or whatever is affecting Switzerland socio-politically, he always reacts to current events with incisive wit, wielding a sharp pen. Ieva Kunga is an artist, illustrator and communication designer, and has been working as a caricaturist for the daily newspaper ‘Saldus Zeme’ in Saldus, Latvia, since 2011. She also addresses a very wide variety of topics in her drawings. Anette Gehrig, director of Cartoonmuseum Basel, will talk with these two guests, who both come from families of graphic designers and caricaturists, about their origins, the political dimension of their work, their drawing techniques, running out of inspiration, flashes of brilliance and much more.
