Pioneer of the graphic novel
Wednesday, 19.4.2023
The Eisner Award is considered the highest honour in comics. The accolade is named after the US artist and ‘father of the graphic novel’ Will Eisner (1917–2005), who saw the comic as literature and thus opened up new narrative possibilities for it. This guided tour with Anette Gehrig traces developments in graphic literature and tells of Eisner’s critical view of the boom that occurred in the metropolis of New York at the start of the 20th century.
