Some cartoonists do not even shy away from painting over masterpieces, while the really brazen splash about in the supreme discipline of the art satire – the art parody. Dieter Burckhardt, founder and benefactor of the museum, had a great fondness for art satire and collected as many works as he could. Which is why this genre is represented in the Cartoonmuseum collection by a large number of unusual examples.
