Science meets art! Workshops for school classes

Following a tour of the exhibition ‘Emil Ferris. Between Selves’ and a short input by a researcher on the topic of ‘Dreaming’, everyone grabs a pencil and begins to draw and experiment with inspiration. These thematic workshops in collaboration with the IBSA Foundation for scientific research are aimed at school classes, are limited to a few dates and are free of charge.

‘Behind the eyelids …’

At night, the world transcends itself. It reveals itself as more colourful, more strange and full of surprising possibilities. Dreams inspire the imagination, yet sometimes they also unsettle or frighten us. The artist Emil Ferris gives dreams just as much space as she does to reality. In her pictures, dreams and reality come together quite naturally: fantastical figures populate the real world, the uncanny becomes familiar and the hidden becomes visible.

In this workshop, we’ll explore the fascinating world of dreams from both an artistic and a psychological perspective. Psychologist Sabine Ehrat will provide fascinating insights into the role of dreams and how they might be interpreted in various cultural and scientific contexts. In the studio, we’ll experiment with art educator Malin Widén, drawing and creating with the dreams you bring along, and transforming personal dream worlds into new visual stories. Because sometimes we needn’t be afraid of our dreams. Perhaps, rather, they show us new ways of understanding the world and ourselves.
