Closing event with Blutch

Sunday, 11.2.2024,
2pm–3pm

In the 1990s, a new generation of artists in France began to breathe new life into comics. Their publications were released via two young underground publishing houses (L’Association and Éditions Cornélius). Blutch was one of the pioneers of this unprecedented movement. His albums irritated and unsettled readers from the very start. This was mainly because they were produced by an artist who used all means at his disposal to surprise others – and, most of all, himself. The autobiographical stories in ‘Le petit Christian’ show Blutch as a chronicler of his childhood in 1970s Alsace. Blutch’s stories thrive on references to the history of comics. He is currently sending the world-famous lonesome cowboy Lucky Luke on new adventures in the album ‘Untamed’.

Blutch and Thérèse Willer, former director of the Tomi Ungerer Museum, will guide visitors through the exhibition. There will then be a signing with Blutch.
