No one is safe from the sharp pen of the humorist draughtsman. And the same goes for artworks. The higher the plinth on which they stand, the greater the delight in causing them to wobble. Some cartoonists do not even shy away from painting over masterpieces, while the really brazen splash about in the supreme discipline of the art satire – the art parody. Dieter Burckhardt, founder and benefactor of the museum, had a great fondness for art satire and collected as many works as he could. Which is why this genre is represented in the Cartoonmuseum collection by a large number of unusual examples. This jubilee exhibition highligths a selection of these works in the Cartoonforum; a publication of the same time contains 30 postcards. Curator: Anette Gehrig
